Remember, when you buy at Costco you can return the 2 hp Vita Mix 5200 blender after you have found out for yourself that the 3 hp commercial Vita Mix Vita Prep 1005 / 3 blender is much better.

Our preferred recommendation is either the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender or the Vitamix Vita Prep 1005 / 3 hp blender / or the 2 hp blender. The 4500 Turbo is a residential blender with a 5 years warranty, the Tritan material 64oz container with lid and tamper and cookbook. The 3 hp Vitamix blender comes with a NSF labeled polycarbonate container for restaurant and commercial applications. This 3 hp blender has a 3 years warranty (3 years material and 1 year labor), comes with a tamper, a lid, and a commercial cookbook. For those who make lots of drinks with ice, the Bar Boss or the Drink Machine are best. But if you make about 50+ ice drinks with the Vitamix Vita Prep 3, a container with the ice-blade installed will do too. The Barboss / Advanced Drink Machines have a timer feature available. But the motor is really nothing more than what the Vitamix 5200 Total Nutrition Center / Blender or the Vitamix 4500 Turbo have installed. The 5200 model motor is a 2 hp motor on steroids. It runs pretty fast but those consumers that use it a lot and especially with heavy pasty thick ingredients, the 5200 will exhaust quickly and shut off to rest a little.

The reason you might want to consider the Vitamix Vita Prep 1005 / 3 hp blender is because of its strength and longevity. It has a much higher torque and it won't overheat as a 2 hp blender. Vitamix said that the Vitaprep 3 was designed to serve the Nursing Home Industry...for the Elderly folks who cannot chew their meals as good. The 3 hp Vitamix blender costs about $ 500 or little less. This is just little more than the 2 hp 5200 blender at Costco or just about 25$ more over your Vitamix Corp direct-buy after taxes, and you get more blender with the Vita Mix Vita Prep 3 hp Blender. OK, it is true that the Vita Mix commercial 3 hp blender is $ 495 while the 2 hp Vita Mix 4500 TurboBlend is way under $ 400. You are going to notice the difference in the smoothness of your blends. And the bottom line of course is always your ability to afford a such a great blender. If you cannot, don't feel bad. Just consider the 2 hp Vita Mix 4500 Turboblend.

But that is just our opinion. And the reason you might want to consider the Vitamix 4500 Turbo Blender is because of its 2 hp strength equal to the 5200 or the Vita Prep 2 and because it costs really much, much less. You should also consider the Vita Mix Turboblend 4500 because of its brand name recognition. The blender has been around for more than a decade and the company is over 80 years old.
