Montel Williams Health Master Blender Review

By the time you might get the Montel Health Master Blender with all upgrades you might just buy the 3 hp Blendtec HP3A Blender, or the 2 hp Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender, or the $250 dollar OMNI-V 3 hp Blender (with 2 hp blending torque). The Omni has a 1 year Warranty and 30 Days Money Back Guarantee (see blender to the right below)!

In order to give our customers a better understanding of how the Montel Williams Health Master (Culinary) Blender really compares to the high performance true 2 hp, 3 hp, and 3.5 hp blenders, we purchased the Health Master Blender and tested it. We don't think that real raw food enthusiasts and health nuts will be happy with the Health Master Blender long-term.  It is in our opinion not a true high performance blender. Just for little more money you can buy the 3 hp Blendtec HP3A blender, or the 2 hp manually-operated Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender. The material quality differences speak for themselves.

The Health Master Blender has about a 1.75 hp motor and a 1100 watt power supply. It is not strong enough to break down the nutrients as raw food enthusiasts would expect. We expect from a high performance blender at the  very minimum that it can emulsify strawberry nuts, raspberry seeds, and flax seed and completely emerge them into the smoothie. These standards can only be achieved with true high performance blenders, which have at least a 2 hp motor. 3 hp and 3.5 hp blenders are even stronger. They can do the job faster and more thoroughly than a 2 hp blender. A 1.75 hp blender is not going to last long if you use it for blending apricot pits, avocado seeds, grains, and blending daily fruit or vegetable smoothies or soup.

The Tristar / Health Master claims that its blender is a 2 hp blender. Instead it has a 1.75 - 1.85 hp motor. The housing looks like a radio box with a speaker box on each side.  I looked under the housing to check if there were wheels perhaps. The blender-container assembled on top of the blender is too tall for people smaller than 5 feet 4 inches to handle  the lid and container setup. It is difficult to open and close the container and assuring that it is set up correctly.

The one thing that I personally find very annoying is the deceit in advertising of a blender as 'nearly a 2 hp blender'. Tristar is conveying to consumers that this is the best emulsifier (see dictionary for definition) or blender on the market. Folks, I hate to break it to you, THERE ARE BETTER BLENDERS THAN THE HEALTH MASTER. The expression 'Best' is a very vague description. In our definition, 'best' means whatever the consumer thinks which blender fits into his/her budget and what he/she thinks is the best for them. The best blender does not have to cost the most. But also, we want to point out, you have to draw the line somewhere, which blender is and is not a high performance blender that really micronizes and blends raspberry seeds, strawberry nuts, and can even blend avocado seeds. The Health Master Jedi certainly does not have his Energizer Batteries recharged enough to get really blending.

By the time you buy a Montel Williams Health Master Blender with all upgrades, you could buy the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender for only $ 30 more over the Montel cost! OR, even better, you are able to buy the OMNI V for $ 250 (plus S&H)

The point that we want to get across to you is that "Instead of buying the Montel Health Master Blender you should purchase the Vita Mix 4500 TurboBlend Blender". It is a much better blender. And even better, you can choose now the OMNIBLEND V 3 hp blender for $ 250.00 plus shipping. (here to the left is the OMNI V featured with the Vita Mix Tritan BPA-FREE 64oz Container-available for more $$). The OMNI comes standard with a 64pz/2 liter Polycarbonate Container; it is marked to 50 fl oz but has enough space to fill the container to the top with 64 fl oz of ingredients. The quality of the blender is surprisingly superior considering the price; Stainless Steel drive socket, blade assembly, etc... is made with high grade stainless steel. The Montel Health Master, to the other hand, is a Rust Bucket. The OMNI motor strength results in fine smoothie blending and is very competitive with the Vita Mix 5200 blender or the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender.

OMNIBLEND V and the Vita Mix 4500 versus Montel™ Williams Health Master™ Blender

Culinary Blender (1200 Watts)

The Montel Health Master blender advertised Price is $ 200. This is deceiving. Add $ 30 mandatory shipping, 10$ for expediting processing from 4 weeks to 1 week, add $ 40 for 100 Watt power supply upgrade from 1100 Watts to 1200 Watts (is really an insignificant power increase), add 15$ for warranty upgrade from a 60 days limited warranty. Total price we paid was  about $ 300. The Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender costs in comparison only 30 to 50 bucks more, and the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender is a true 2 hp blender and it comes standard with a 5 years warranty.

You really should compare the workmanship of the base material thickness, container, how to screw and unscrew the lid and the container, the blade assembly, the threads and bearings, the retention nut, and the overall design. You will quickly see the difference between poor material choices and inferior workmanship. Made in China is not necessarily a bad thing. But the Health Master is made CHEAPLY. The manufacturer cut costs, even on the power cord. It is a 14 gauge cable while Vita Mix has solid 12 gauge wiring.

Review Details

  • The basic Health Master Blender Package comes with a 1.75 hp 1100 Watt motor. You can upgrade to 1.85 hp 1200 Watt for $ 40.00
  • The LCD Control Screen displays the on/off status, the speed level, and the timer - countdown feature. It also shows when the 'ice button' has been selected.
  • 8 – Speed Electronic Push-Button up and down
  • Pulse Button - same speed as # 8
  • Timer (countdown up to 20 Minutes)
  • Ice Button (interval on/off)
  • Made in China
  • Exterior Package Weight: 14 pounds 6 ounces
  • Blender Base weighs 9 pounds
  • Container weighs 2 pounds 10 ounces
  • Shipping Time (Expedited Service - $ 10.00). It took us  5 days from the time of ordering to get it (Connecticut to Utah). Actually it is really funny; I had to call Tristar to place the order again, because about 10 days prior, when I place the initial order online, although an order confirmation # was issued, the order never went through. A reader called me just recently and she told me the exact same thing had happened to her...

  • Safety locking system requires lid in locked-on position on container and the container in locked-on position on blender base. This system is strictly mechanical. It is a good feature. Blendtec, Vita Mix, nor Waring offer this feature because they think it is just another thing that can break easily. And these companies have been in business for 30 / 80 / and 60 plus years respectively. All it takes is chipping off any of the plastic connectors and you have to buy a new container. The replacement containers for your Health Master Blender are about $ 50 plus shipping. I wish they would fit the Vita Mix blender so I could have tried out the blade on the Vita Mix..., but, what else...
  • The noise level is about 85 dB at the highest speed; The 'pulse' speed is equally fast as # 8 speed. Normally the pulse is always much faster than the highest variable speed. It was lame during the test. I imagined more power when pushing the "PULSE". Nothing...
  • The Sound Frequency at speed # 8 is equal to Vita Mix Vita Prep 3 hp blender (1005/3) at its variable speed position # 6 ( Vita Mix has 10 positions on variable; its pulse is 1.5 times faster than its variable speed 10). The Vita Mix VP 3 is about twice as powerful as the Health Master.
  • The blender container socket has the same design as the Vita Mix container socket for the Vita Mix 5200 model, the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo, Vita Mix Vita Prep 2 hp and 3 hp commercial blender. The picture left shows the Health Master Socket to the left and to the right the Vita Mix socket. These are interchangeable. But the screw that fastens the socket to the motor rod on the HM blender is of poor quality. The HM socket also wiggles back and forth more (has more play) than the Vita Mix socket when installed. And the finish, plastic and stainless steel is rougher on the Health Master blender. Actually, I am not sure this is stainless steel since it almost appeared to have some kind of surface rust. - see picture left, the brownish like rust color on the HM socket.
  • The Blade is also about the same style as the Vita Mix blade. The Vita Mix blade is machined stainless steel and the Health Master blade is about 3/32 inch thick bent stainless steel. The health master blade is a 4 prong blade with two additional (but thinner - 50%) blade sections below. The containers from Vita Mix to Health Master and visa versus are not interchangeable.  I wish they were. We could have tested the blender performance on the Vita Mix blender in comparison.
  • The blades are also not interchangeable between containers. These too, I wish they were because I would have tried out the blending differences. But the thread is different and I could not tighten the Health Master Blade in the Vita Mix container. And the Vita Mix blade thread does not even reach out of the bottom of the container. So I was unable to put the retention nut on it.
  • The Health Master blades (left image is a comparison between the Vita Mix - left - and the Health Master Blade - right) can be removed. The container blade retention nut is very similar in design but the thread is little different from the Vita Mix dimensions. The Health Master material finish on blade and retention nut, and the thread on blade assembly and retention nut is a much rougher finish. Comparing the Vita Mix brand with the Health Master, you can quickly notice the better quality in the Vita Mix engineering and finish. It is not a very easy task to get the lid and the container off. For people who are 6 feet 4 inches and taller it is easier than for smaller people.
  • The Vortex of the container and the blade action when blending seems to pushing the content upwards away from the blade, rather than drawing the ingredients towards the blade. I am not sure why this happens. But I know it does. When inserting the tamper tool into the Health Master Container during blending, the tamper bounces all over. When inserting the tamper tool into the Vita Mix container during blending, the tamper is sucked into the container so it closes on top of the lid the cap up completely. There is a clear resistance with the Vita Mix equipment when trying to pull out the tamper. The vortex of the Vita Mix blending in its containers appears clearly better than the Health Master action.

The Health Master blade drive that goes into the socket is of inferior quality compared to the Vita Mix Blade

Note the Health Master container base (the retention nut with the blade assembly installed on the bottom of the container)

The Health Master Container with MONSTER lid and cap - note the locking mechanism for safety - The lid is 5 inches diameter huge. My hands were nearly too small to pry it off the container. Sorry, I am not a lumber jack. Maybe in time it would loosen up. The locking mechanism-rod is hidden on the container behind the handle on the inside (see black) from lid to base of container.

This is the Vita Mix Retention Nut - note how
perfect the threading and the material finish is.

Vita Mix Blade Assembly - Note the clean Thread and the perfect blade drive that goes into the socket when sitting the container on the blender base.

The Health Master Blade Assembly sitting on the retention nut - note the thread on the assembly. The thread is not clean cut. The wheel bearing turns rougher than with the Vita Mix blade assembly. Of course that could be a coincident too.

Left is the Vita Mix Retention Nut and right is the one from the Montel Health Master Blender. The finish on the Vita Mix item is much cleaner, and smoother. The thread on the Vita Mix Retention Nut is much finer. It is important to be of high quality because when replacing the blade in the container, this could be a critical place where the container could leak.

Left Vita Mix Blade Assembly. Right Health Master Blade Assembly. Note the material differences and workmanship

This is the safety switch on the Health Master Blender Base. It is mechanically pushed down from the container with a plastic rod within the container side when in locked-in position as long as the container lid is also in locked-in position.

Vita Mix base bottom with blade assembly in the center

Lid Cap Top - view from the inside. See the spring and screw in the center, which pulls the cap shut

  • The Health Master Container is a 2000 ml / 2 liter / 64 oz container made from Polycarbonate. It is not BPA-Free as the Vita Mix blender containers, which are part of  the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo blender package. We noticed also, when blending with the Health Master that the vortex force was upwards instead of downwards towards the blade. How do I know this? When using the tamper in the Health Master blender, it juggled up/down while with the Vita Mix experience, the tamper is always sucked towards the blade area, shutting the opening in the lid completely. Maybe we are spoiled having used the Vita Mix blenders and Blendtec 3 hp blenders for such a long time. The Health Master Lid Cap  (to the right) is equipped with a flimsy plastic vent-valve (like from a steam cooker) to aid in pressure reduction. It took me 5 minutes to clean out one flax seed that was stuck in it. The pressure vent cap in the lid cap has in the inside a small spring and a screw. If this breaks, you either live with a permanent hole in the lid to let off pressure, or you have to buy a new container.

  • The blade sharpness of the HM blender on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being dull and 10 being very sharp, is about 4 and the Vita Mix blade is a 7 or 8.
  • The power cable of the Health Master is a 14 gauge wire / cable and the Vita Mix has a 12 gauge cable, much stronger and a much better quality cable
  • The housing plastic of the Health Master blender is lighter and thinner than the Vita Mix Blender housing. The feel is flimsier on the HM. And the design of the HM blender looks like a radio with speakers on each side, only that these radio-speaker sides are the motor vent areas (one side is intake and the other is output). It is a rather bulky design, too tall and wide to really store anywhere else. The Vita Mix is not a small box either, but it is easier to store and to place on the counter- top.
  • The motor of the HM blender is exactly the same style of motor that we found in China for $ 8.00. A little stronger motor would not have cost that much more money.

By the time you buy your Montel Williams Health Master Blender with all upgrades, you can buy the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender for $ 30 more! - See our Special!

  • The HM tamper is a black plastic stick. Its profile from the bottom looks like a cross. The tamper bounces around on top of the lid when inserted and left alone. The grip closes up the hole but it is not as tight as the Vita Mix tamper on the Vita Mix container. I blended ice and the tamper was not needed in that operation.
  • The motor (audible by frequency sound / pitch) appears to slow down once the bigger bulk of the ingredients have been emulsified. Actually, once the bigger and bulkier ingredients / or the resistance of ingredients to the motor declines, the motor does not sound as noisy as it did before. We figured out that the motor is louder and working harder first and then once ingredients are smaller and more liquid is in the container, it gets easier for the blender. It has after all less than 2 hp.
  • It took 5 minutes 30 seconds to heat water in the blender up by way of friction (blending). The temperature was 110 degree F. The container socket  to the blade was hot for the next  minute or so.
  • With a towel in hand you can slow down the socket rotation with the HM Blender. This is something that is not easy to do with the 3 hp Vita Mix blender.
  • We blended ice using the ice button feature. When pressing the ice button, obvious with ice in it, it goes like this: "eeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" (for 2 seconds), then it stops for about 2 seconds, and continues again "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" for 2 seconds. And so on, until you push the 'stop button'.

  • The timer is a cool feature. You can set the timer to up to 20 minutes and then turn the blender on to your desired speed. The blender will turn off at the preset time. The only concern we have is that the blender may not last 20 minutes straight blending. It got already hot when simply warming up soup to 110 degree Fahrenheit. (We simulated the soup by using water). And when making a smoothie puree with flax seed, it took the blender some doing.
  • The motor has an over-heat prevention switch. It will pop out and you can push it back in following the instructions. This allows the motor to cool down to keep it from burning out.
  • Overall, in our opinion, this is not a bad blender. You can basically purchase a 1.75 hp blender with a 60 days warranty on all parts and 100 years on the motor (LOL) – It is a limited warranty and if you read it carefully, it really comes with lots of vague  exclusions. What does it really mean to abuse your blender or when broken beyond 'normal' wear and tear, the warranty is voided?
  • Every blender is about what it is, according to its power. The motor is really the most important feature. The blade is theoretically replaceable. We are unaware of Tristar offering a replacement blade. But they are selling new containers for replacement for $ 50 plus shipping. So, the HM blender that we tested has a 1.85 hp motor with 1200 watt power supply. It can be expected that if using it once or twice a day to make one soup and one smoothie, you will not experience too many problems. But if you need something more durable and have more demanding blending requirements, you might want to rethink your purchase.

By the time you buy your Montel Williams Health Master Blender with all upgrades, you can buy the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender for $ 30 more! - See our Special!

It concerns me, how Montel™ comes across as if this blender can blend anything. It will not blend avocado seeds. It has already difficulties blending flax seed into our smoothie (see images below). As you notice, the un-blended flax seeds are all sticking to the inside of the lid. The blender had a hard time working through the flax. Flax, the longer you blend it, the thicker it gets. It takes on the water…. Almost like concrete. We have never had any power concerns with the Vita Mix 2 hp or 3 hp blenders when blending flax. I think another reason why the flax seed is all over the container and lid and not adequately blended is perhaps because of the up-wards vortex instead of the vortex force that Blendtec, Waring, and especially the Vita Mix blenders are so great with.

The Health Master Blender is clearly a cheaper blender than the Vita Mix, Waring, and Blendtec blenders. It is reflected in the thinner plastic, the cheaper blade, the poorer workmanship and finish on the container retention nut. This means, if you do not over-work it, this Bambie will last. And this goes basically for every blender. Use your blender according to its power and blending capabilities. The only thing though, your blender work horses that do not flinch before their tasks are in deed the Blendtec, Waring, and Vita Mix blenders, without question.

Watch out when calling Tristar to order this blender. Tristar will try VERY HARD to up-sell you from your 60 day base warranty to 3 years or 7 years, the 1100 watt power supply to 1200 watts, the standard processing time from 3 to 4 weeks to the 7 to 10 days, their blankets, and who knows what else. Tristar is a marketing company. Remember, the blender is private-labeled by a company made in China. Tristar sell juicers, blenders, vacuums, mixers, bread machines, and many other different kitchen small appliances or tools.

The Picture to the right depicts the fine smoothie quality that the OMNI Blender V (3 hp motor that yields in a 2 hp torque - energy efficient) in a Vita Mix container with the OMNI multi-function engineered blade. Note the vortex, note the smoothness, no flax seed or seed as opposed to the pictures above, showing the sad truth of the Montel Health Master Rust Bucket.

The Health Master Blender cost us nearly $ 300 with all the features that we thought were the closest to the true 2 hp Vita Mix 4500 Turbo blender to allow us comparing apples with apples. We have found, the Health Master is just about $30 or so dollars less than the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender, when comparing apples to apples. The Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender should cost $ 350.00 or $ 330.00 (subject to a phone call 801-623-3225). We have appraised the Health Master blender according to its inferior power supply and the other flimsy features. The Health Master is over-priced by about $50. But taking in the poorer workman ship the greater likelihood of the motor burning out with the Health Master and the blade assembly bearing to burn out, the repair, or replacement cost would already make it worth for you to buy a better blender such as the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender, or even the OMNI Blender at $ 250 plus shipping (picture to the left above is the OMNI)

Even if the blender and any and all breakage is covered by warranty, still you have the down-time not having the container, you have the hassle having to deal with unknowns with Tristar, and you may have to pay shipping costs, and then worry what limitations might void your warranty. The good thing about the Tristar Health Master blender is that the consumer has the option to buy the blender in 4 payments over a period of 3 or 4 months. And this about the only good thing on this Rust Bucket.

When we ordered our blender we waited up the time expected for delivery. Then we checked and found out that the order had not been accepted online. We had to call in and place the order by phone. This subjected us to the up-selling attempts. Five days later we received the blender. This is not a blender that we will keep. We never intended to keep it because we are using our favorite 3 hp Vita Mix Vita Prep 1005/3 blender.

Another important comparison issue between the high performance blenders from Blendtec, Waring, or Vita Mix compared to the Health Master is that these companies are 30 years / 60 years, or 80 years old while Tristar / Health Master Blenders has been around just about a few years. This is important to consider. Time has shown which blender is good. I have heard of a Vita Mix blender 30 years old and it is still working. Very often customers call to order the latest 3 hp Vita Mix blender. They tell me that their 10 year old blender is still working, which they are passing on to their son or daughter.

And last but not least, when it comes down to your budget, buy the blender that you can afford and use that blender. And if that is only $ 50.00 at Wal-Mart or so, then work with that. You get what you pay for. But not having the money to buy a good blender should not keep you from improving your nutritional lifestyle. And frankly, the blenders that we sell, while really being the best, only do the same thing that you can do with your teeth anyway. But the blender does it much faster. So, if you don’t have the money, eat your carrots raw. Chew them slowly, each bite about 30 + times. Do the same with flax seed. And when you cannot bite through the avocado seed, hopefully by that time you can afford the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender.

Make sure you have a dedicated place for your blender. Do not store it away and keep it out of sight. A study has revealed that 60 % of small kitchen appliances are not used. When you don’t see your blender every day you will not use it every day. Also, make your blender easy accessible. If it is a pain to use it, you will likely not use a lot.

By the way, the blender that is the easiest to store is the Blendtec HP3A 3 hp blender and the OMNI-V 3hp Blender. Ideally, and our favorite space-saving blender is the Blendtec Connoisseur. You can cut a hole into your counter-top and install the Connoisseur with a sound enclosure. This will help create a dedicated place for the blender and make it much user friendlier to use.

A sound enclosure will help you reduce the noise by about 30+%. Even the Health Master is already 85 dB noisy on full power (speed level 8). This too will increase the frequency of your blender use. Remember, if you do not use it every day several times, then why even having a high performance blender?

Disclaimer:

We are not associated with Montel Williams Health Master Blenders or Tristar. We are not selling the Montel Health Master Blender. We are in the business of selling Waring, Blendtec, and Vita Mix high performance 2 hp, 3 hp, and 3.5 hp blenders. This reason for this report, and the reason for having bought the Montel Health Master blender, is to compare the HM blender. Our bias is that we are interested obviously in selling the blenders that we advertise. However, we are intrigued by the HM blender strategy. Consumers can get into a 1.75 hp blender for basically $ 230.00 incl shipping in the USA. OK, the blender is little flimsier than others, but if one has only $ 230 dollars, it is a good start. Hopefully the Tristar stands behind its warranty promises. Time will tell. Perhaps in the future we have an opportunity to introduce our own 3 hp high performance blender in the $ 200-dollar price range. The Health Master has inspired us.

Why do we call the Montel Health Master a Rust Bucket?

We have received phone calls from Health Master customers who have allegedly put the container into their dishwasher on its first cleaning run. The blades came out rust-covered. This is of course no surprise, as I mentioned before already in the review about the stainless steel used to make the blades, the drive socket, etc... is likely the poorest grade stainless steel. Stainless Steel normally does not rust, if a higher grade material is used. Cutting cost on something that important really demonstrates the entire quality behind the Montel Health Master Blender. It is not a blender that we recommend.

In a way, please forgive me Montel, the Health Master- radio box blender reminds me of Star Wars. I had to check for wheels under the left and right 'speaker' boxes. Go with the force! And NO, please don't call me to ask if this blender really is a Radio. It is not. It just looks like it. But you are always welcome to sing along.

Hopefully we have not offended anyone, especially Montel or Tristar. I am just about honesty. I even argue with Blendtec about their great blenders that need a tamper in spite of them forbidding me to mention the tamper. The Blendtec containers also should be marked to 64oz and not to only 32oz. This irritates lots of customers. And I even have complaints about the Vita Mix company. And yet you see, I sell these blenders. They are what they are. But frankly, if I have to sell crap or sell with deceit, I would rather apply for a job at McDonald's as dishwasher... ahhhhh they throw away their dishes.... Dope.

I purchased one in September 2009, which I used twice per day at the end of September it caught fire, the safety switch did not trip out it never worked since. (It was being used for blending oatmeal, fruits and yogurt). I returned it and their customer service was extreamly poor. I purchased another from QVC in mid October and I have experienced the same faith. In my opinion they are safety hazard, it does not do the job and their customer services is very poor. Sick to your $45.00 dollard blender. Any knows how to reach Montel Williams, so he can be informed that he is endorsing a product that is causing people to get mentally sick?

After watching the infomercial I must say I was impressed by what they claimed the unit can do. I anxiously waited for the delivery and as it was just before christmas I was very excited about opening the box. Set up and ease of use was great. I did some internet searching and found a few notes on quality of the bearing on the bottom of the health master container. Still so far so good. I am now at day 28 and am happy to know they have a 60 day moneyback gyuarantee that I am going to be exerscising. When making my smoothie this am I had an odd noise followed by a discharge of Brown Lubricant from the bearing letting go. So much for that. Time to pack it up, ship it back and accept my loss of Shipping and handling. Lets see how well they stand behind the refund policy! So many good reviews on other machines. Dissapointing that this one failed in less than 30 days.

Since buying my Blendtec in November, I have used it every single day, sometimes two or three times a day, and I've gotten to the point that I don't know what I would do without it now.

I would recommend either Blendtec or VitaMix. Don't settle for anything less. It will become your next best friend.

I've watched that Healthmaster infomercial a million times. I debated and debated and almost bought it. I really needed a good blender for my journey and just didn't have the money to put towards a Vita Mix. I found way to many negative reports on the Healthmaster. Many folks loved it, but it burned out so fast and the customer service appeared to be consistently awful. I found one person, on a non-food forum that told me she loved hers and that it had been over a year and it was still holding up. However, she didn't use it as many times a day as I knew I would be.

Then there were the Ninja infomercials that pulled me in. I found out that they sold them in Target and considered buying one from them so that returning (if need be) wouldn't be a hassle. THANKFULLY the opportunity was presented to me that allowed me to purchase a Vita Mix. I can't tell anyone NOT to buy either of them (the Healthmaster or Ninja), because quite honestly if you're feeling an urgent need to change your life right now and don't have the money for the Vita Mix then you have to do what you have to do...but I will say this. I was fortunate enough to come by a Back to basics smoothie plus 600 blender via Freecycycle. It has a tamper like the Vita Mix and everything. It performed really well, and as I understand it can be found at Walmart and Target for $20 or so. It did a good job of making my marinara sauce for my zuchinni so I was pleased!

All the best,
